Woodworkers Fighting Cancer 2016

Our Mission:
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We are woodworkers united in the fight against cancer. Our goal for 2016 is to raise $20,000 to help encourage kids fighting cancer to Never Ever Give Up! With your help, we can help send boosts of joy to courageous kids around the world. Thank you for your support! - Marc & Nicole

How You Can Help:
You can help by either donating directly, or by participating in this years Charity Build. On October 1st we will release an instructional video and free plan showing you how to build this years project: A castle kids bookcase. You can download the plans on the main website at woodworkersfightingcancer.com. All you have to do is build the project and send us a photo by November 30th, 2016. We will then donate $5 to the Jessie Rees Foundation for each picture we receive (one per person, please). We also have many corporate sponsors who are donating $1 per submission. Our Accomplishments & History:
In 2010 I became friends with fellow woodworker Duane Moore who was suffering from pancreatic cancer. Nicole and I made a special trip out to Ohio to give Duane some one-on-one woodworking instruction and it was a life-changing experience for me. Inspired by Duane, I decided it was time for The Wood Whisperer to get involved in a charity and what better charity than the fight against cancer! Woodworkers Fighting Cancer was born out of a desire to rally the online woodworking community around a common cause that effects all of us in some way. I want woodworkers and non-woodworkers alike to be inspired by what our woodworking community is doing and perhaps even join us in the fight! Duane has since passed away and he will be missed. Without him, Woodworkers Fighting Cancer would never have come to fruition.

2010 - The Wood Whisperer Guild managed to raise nearly $10,000 for the American Cancer Society during one of our Guild Builds. The goal was to build a Shaker Table, and I personally donated $5 for every table made. 67 tables were completed and thanks to 158 contributors and numerous corporate sponsors, we raised over $9000! The first video below was our original announcement and the second is our celebration of the accomplishment.

2011 - $10,000 raised for LiveStrong. The goal this year was to build a rocking horse from a free plan provide by our friends at WOOD Magazine. 120 rocking horses were completed by the community and thanks to the numerous corporate sponsors matching our $1 for every rocking horse made (+ 5% of every new guild membership) & individual donations we raised almost $10,000!

2012 - $4600 raised for LiveStrong via a charity auction. I sold off a bunch of unused tools and donated 100% of the proceeds

2013 - $14,086.00 raised for CancerCare, a national nonprofit organization that provides free, professional support services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones and the bereaved.

2014 - $16,877.00 raised for CRI, the world's only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to harnessing the immune system's power to conquer all cancers.

2015 - $21,803.00 raised for Cancer Research Institute, the world's only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to harnessing the immune system's power to conquer all cancers.

I just finished the 2015 project (Kids Table and Chairs) and I know it is very late, but it has been a goal of mine and since I finished I am donating to the cause. Thank you so much for setting this fund up and everything I have learned getting back in.

I was five months late on the castle bookcase, so here's a donation directly from me instead with a little extra for the lateness. :)
